2013 Visit & Donations

2013 School Visits and Donations

In the summer of 2013, thanks to the generosity of many friends and supporters, and the hard work and dedication of Michael Nugent, there were a number of visits to the school from volunteers with Habitat for Humanity who came from Ireland. On each of these visits, the school received significant donations of books and equipment.

Among the Habitat for Humanity teams which visited, were the team from St Columba’s College in Dublin led by Ronan Swift, which collected in Ireland and then delivered to the school a large quantity of books. The visit was very uplifting and we are eternally grateful for this support.

Another visiting Habitat for Humanity team of volunteers from Ireland, was that of Gonzaga Overseas Aid, which is based in the Gonzaga College in Dublin. That team brought a large amount of equipment, including eight laptop computers, two microscopes, two telescopes, assorted laboratory equipment, pencils, copy books, mathematics sets and about 170kg of books.

There were other visits from open Habitat for Humanity teams from Ireland, including those led by Colette Murray and Aoileann NiChuilleanain which transported even more materials to us, making 2013 our best year yet in expanding our library.

We are delighted to have found so many friends and supporters in Ireland and we are thankful too to Habitat for Humanity Zambia, which assisted with transport and organisation in getting the visitors and their precious materials to our school.

We believe that the impact on the school and on the pupils of so much teaching material will be profound.
